Universities DB is an independent directory of 198 universities in 65 countries. This page explains where our information comes from, how we check it, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Where the information comes from
- Official university sources first. Contact details, programs, tuition, admissions and deadlines are taken from each university's own website and published documents wherever possible.
- Open reference data. Founding dates, locations and identifiers are cross-checked against open databases such as Wikidata. Logos and campus photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, or from the university itself.
- Rankings are quoted from the publisher (for example QS or Times Higher Education) with the year where known.
- AI-assisted research. We use AI tools to help find and structure public information. AI output is treated as a draft: it is checked against the university's official website before we rely on it, and data that cannot be confirmed is left blank rather than guessed.
How listings are checked and kept up to date
- Contact details, tuition and other key fields are re-checked against official websites in regular verification rounds. Proposed changes are reviewed before they are published.
- Each listing shows when it was last updated. Tuition is labelled with its currency and academic year, because fees change every year.
- Universities can claim their listing for free and correct their own information. Listings marked "Verified by the university" have been claimed and confirmed by the university itself.
- Unclaimed listings are compiled from public sources and may contain mistakes. Always confirm important details, such as fees, entry requirements and deadlines, with the university before you apply.
Photos and credits
Photos are either supplied by the university or used under a free licence (such as Creative Commons) with the author and licence credited under the image. If you own a photo and believe it is used incorrectly, contact us and we will fix or remove it.
Independence and paid listings
Basic listings are free for every university. Universities can pay for extra features, such as more photos or priority placement; paid placements are clearly labelled and never change the factual information we show. We do not sell rankings.
Enquiries
When you contact a university through our forms, your enquiry goes to that university (or is held until it claims its listing). See our privacy policy for details.
Report a correction
