Welcome to UniversitiesDB
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. UniversitiesDB is a directory of universities around the world. Right now it lists 198 universities in 65 countries, and we're adding more each week.
What the site is for
If you're a student, or a parent helping one, you can browse by country and then by city. Each listing tries to answer the questions you'd otherwise dig through a dozen web pages for: where the university is, what it teaches, the language of instruction, how admission works, and the deadlines and fees where we have them. Start with a country you're curious about, such as Thailand, Germany, the United Kingdom, India or Brazil.
If you have a question for a university, you can send an enquiry from its listing. The enquiry goes to the university, not to us. If the university hasn't claimed its listing yet, we hold the message until it does.
How we try to get things right
A directory is only useful if you can trust it, so here is how we work.
We take contact details, programmes, admissions information and deadlines from each university's own website first. Founding dates and locations are cross-checked against open reference data such as Wikidata. When we can't confirm something, we leave the field blank instead of guessing.
Campus photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, or from the university itself, and every photo shows its author and licence underneath. The photo at the top of this page is the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
Each listing shows when it was last updated. Fees change every year, so tuition is labelled with its currency and academic year. We still recommend checking important details with the university before you apply.
The full details are on our methodology page. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are welcome and we'd much rather fix an error than leave it up.
For universities
Basic listings are free, for every university. If your university is already listed, you can claim the listing at no cost, confirm that it's yours, and correct or add information yourself. Claimed and confirmed listings are marked "Verified by the university".
If your university isn't here yet, you can add it. We'd especially like to hear from universities in countries where our coverage is still thin.
Some universities choose paid extras, such as more photos or priority placement. Those are clearly labelled, and paying never changes the facts we show about a university. We don't sell rankings.
What's next
Over the coming months we'll publish practical guides, for example on studying in English in a particular country, comparing admission routes, and keeping track of application deadlines. You'll find them here in Articles.
Thanks for reading, and good luck with wherever you end up studying.
